Adolf Noether 1855–1943
Adolf Noether was born in Dresden on 9 December 1855 and died there on 8 July 1943. He trained as a lithographer, studied at the Dresden School of Applied Arts and in Berlin, knew Ludwig Richter and became known above all as a watercolourist: his views of Dresden and Loschwitz, the Elbe Sandstone Mountains, Meissen and Moritzburg, as well as his flower studies, were also published as prints and picture postcards.
Do you own a work by Adolf Noether?
Whether a watercolour, drawing, print, postcard or letter – every piece of information helps. My main aim is not to buy, but to document: with your permission I will include the work in my catalogue. Your name will only be shown if you explicitly wish.

About this website
I am Adolf Noether's great-great-grandson and have admired his pictures for many years. In my research I noticed how little is known about him. This website aims to become a reliable source on the painter – and to bring together people who own his works or know something about him.
